Now through February 3rd, ZORA! The Zora Neale Hurston Festival of the Arts and Humanities (www.zorafestival.com) is taking place in Eatonville, Florida, outside of Orlando. Events include appearances by writers, artists, and filmmakers, along with a multi-day street festival and exhibits at the Zora Neale Hurston National Museum of Fine Arts.
The festival takes place annually in January and honors Zora Neale Hurston (1891-1960), a dominant female voice during the Harlem Renaissance. Hurston’s hometown, Eatonville serves as the setting for her novel Their Eyes Were Watching God.
