Southern belle Scarlett O’Hara would be pleased to know she’s in the spotlight, along with her creator. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the publication of Gone with the Wind, Margaret Mitchell’s only novel and a Pulitzer Prize winner. The Atlanta History Center’s Margaret Mitchell House is hosting events in commemoration of the milestone throughout the year.
Kicking off the anniversary-related happenings on February 16 are Ellen F. Brown and John Wiley, Jr., the authors of Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind: A Bestseller’s Odyssey from Atlanta to Hollywood ($10 for nonmembers, $5 for member; reservations requested). A day-long celebratory extravaganza is taking place on Saturday, May 14, and is included with regular admission.

Have you read Pat Conroy’s latest book that talks about how important GONE WITH THE WIND is,and how everyone should read it? Pat’s book is inspiring, uplifting, and fun to read. I loved it.
MY READING LIFE by Pat Conroy.
And Oh, as a sideline, I just ordered the Autobiography of Mark Twain. My wife was going to get it for me for Xmas, and unfortunately they were sold out of copies in this area. So, I got a giftcard, and I’ve used it. It’s being Fed Exed to me,and I am hoping to have the book in my hot little hands by Monday. Have you read it yet? Still hoping to hear about your trip to Hannibal, Missouri, and would love to meet you for lunch!
